Veteran filmmaker Kodi Ramakrishna, who has directed over a hundred movies and given some of Tollywood's biggest hits ever, passed away last week. His passing is one of the biggest ever losses not just for Telugu cinema but Indian cinema as a whole. Many Tollywood celebrities expressed their grief over this loss and reminisced about their experiences with this legendary director, who has given blockbuster hits like Arundathi & Ammuru.
All the who's who of the Telugu film industry paid their last respects to Kodi Ramakrishna at his residence and a few of them addressed the media, who were gathered there. Superstar Krishna was one of the many legends who visited Kodi Ramakrishna's house to pay his last respects and he spoke to the media. While talking, Krishna fondly remembered how the great director had made a naughty Mahesh Babu act, as a child. He said, "Kodi Ramakrishna spotted Mahesh Babu on the sets of Poratam and he instantly decided to cast him as my brother in the movie. Mahesh was very naughty and he used to run around the studio. However, Kodi Ramakrishna was patient enough to make him act and give his best performance in his first full-fledged role as a child artiste.”
The 1983 movie Poratam, starring Jaya Sudha as the female lead, was produced by S Ramachandra Rao, under the SR Films banner. Superstar Krishna played the character of Krishnamurthy and a young Master Mahesh Babu was cast as his brother Bujji.
