Ravi Mariya entered movies in an uncredited role through the 2000 movie Khushi. His maiden directorial was the 2002 movie Aasai Aasaiyai, which also marked actor Jiiva's debut in movies. Ravi Mariya also directed another movie - Milaga, which had the famous cinematographer and actor Natty Subramaniam in the lead. Well known for his comic timing as well as villainous roles, Ravi Mariya has starred alongside Thalapathy Vijay in the blockbuster hit - Jilla.
We now have news that Ravi Mariya has joined AIADMK - the ruling party in Tamil Nadu. On Monday, he is said to have visited the AIADMK party office in Chennai and met the Chief Minister Edappadi Pazhanisamy and the Deputy Chief Minister O Panneer Selvam. After felicitating the two senior leaders, he is said to have pledged his allegiance to the party. Following this, Ravi Mariya opened up to the media and said, "The ruling AIADMK party has been working hard for the welfare of the people of Tamil Nadu. I wish to ensure that they come emerge victorious in the upcoming elections too. I shall work on the propaganda for AIADMK in the upcoming Parliamentary as well as Lok Sabha elections."
Ravi Mariya has worked with Superstar Rajinikanth in Lingaa. His first claim to fame was through director Vasanthabalan's rural movie Veyil, which released in 2006, in which he played the antagonist. Apart from Tamil, Ravi has also worked in Malayalam movies.
