We all know that many actors are socially active and responsible. They also take part in many awareness videos and programs of the government because when an actor endorses anything, it has the power to reach a wider populace. In that context, we would like to inform that Suriya has taken part in an initiative about the use of plastics or rather not use of single-use plastics through an awareness video produced by his production banner 2 D Entertainment. The public interest video titled Maaralaam Maattralaam (let’s change; let's effect the change) is presented by the Tamil Nadu government.
In the video, Suriya addresses a class of 1st-grade students and talks about the damages of single-use plastics in a manner that can easily be understood by everyone. The video also talks about how garbage is not thrown into the trashcan but outside due to our carelessness which results in harming animals that eat them and also the environment. It is indeed a good initiative mainly because of the effect that actors have on society. Suriya also talks about the various types of plastics and their gradations. He teaches them about the alternates to plastics. The presentation is very simple that makes use of drawings to drive home his point.
This video would be screened in theatres before the films or during intervals. Tamil Nadu government had banned the use of single plastics and there are various manners in which the message is being communicated to the public. Sources say, “Suriya was very happy to do this as he wants to do his part for the society”.
