After the baffling decision to trash the film (Varma) once it was ready for its release, the makers of the Arjun Reddy remake are currently pushing forward the pre-production stage of the film which will restart very soon. Arjun Reddy’s original director Sandeep Vanga was approached to direct the Tamil version too, but since he is busy with the Hindi version Kabir Singh and does not wish to work on the same film for the 3rd time, he has redirected the offer to his assistant Girisayya, who is likely to come on board as the new director.
And now, the makers are planning to bring in Banita Sandhu as the lead heroine opposite Dhruv Vikram. Banita had made her debut with Varun Dhawan’s October last year and is now in talks with the team regarding the role. If all goes well, the shoot for the remake will start from the end of March.
It is indeed a big downer for artists like Megha Chaudry, Eswari Rao, Raiza Wilson and the other supporting artists who acted in Bala’s version but are doubtful they will be called back for the new one. The incidents surrounding Varma are one of their own, and it would be interesting to see how soon the new film pans out.
