Just as Viswasam’s promotions have commenced in full swing, Thala Ajith’s fans had many more reasons to rejoice on Friday, as his 59th and 60th films were announced in one go, through a detailed ‘breaking’ press statement. Late actress Sridevi’s husband Boney Kapoor’s production company Bayview Projects LLP will be making their debut in the Tamil film industry with these two films starring Ajith.
The 59th film of the star will be the official Tamil remake of the classic Pink. Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru director H Vinoth will be helming this project, thereby confirming rumours doing the rounds for many months. One of Ajith’s most successful music composers Yuvan Shankar Raja will take care of ‘Thala 59’, thereby marking his reunion with Ajith, 6 years after Arrambam (2013). The film was launched on December 14th in Chennai with a formal pooja and the shooting will also happen in the city for about a week this month.
Boney Kapoor, in an official statement, says, "While working with Ajith in English Vinglish, Sridevi had expressed her desire that he should do a Tamil film for our home production. Nothing exciting came up till one day last year, Ajith himself suggested remaking Pink in Tamil. She immediately agreed as she thought that it was the most appropriate, timely film to make and that Ajith would bring in all the elements required to make it a great Tamil film."
He adds, "I am extremely happy about starting my production ventures in the South, particularly in Tamil that has always been a special zone for me. In fact, it’s been a long journey involving Ajith and me to collaborate for a film, which he took up as a commitment from the time he shared screen space with my wife in English Vinglish. Accordingly, what we both earnestly looked up was a suitable film that will add special mileage to our respective works. We are now delighted to have zeroed in on the official remake of Pink."
Revealing more details, Boney said, "We are initiating the shooting process today and determined enough to hit the screens on the 1st of May 2019 (which also happens to be Ajith’s birthday). We are subsequently doing another film together, that will be scheduled for a start in July 2019 with the release date plan being the 10th of April 2020. Both the films will be supported by Zee. I am looking forward to a very enjoyable experience working with him."
"Mr. Vinoth’s Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru had amazed me incredibly for its raw and realistic treatment. The way he chooses a unique story premise and treats it with an engrossing narration style assured me that he will be the right person to handle Pink in Tamil.”
