Director Vishnuvardhan, son of producer Kulasekaran and elder brother of actor Kreshna, entered movies as a director through the 2003 movie Kurumbu. This was the Tamil remake of the Telugu movie Allari but did not do too well at the box office. However, his next project Arinthum Ariyamalum was well received both critically and commercially. He followed it up with another hit in Pattiyal before breaking the box office with the blockbuster Billa, starring Thala Ajith in the lead. He again worked with Ajith in Arrambam and this movie too, turned out to be a major hit. We now hear that Vishnuvardhan will next be producing an anthology web series!
Vishnuvardhan's maiden production venture was the 2015 movie Yatchan, which starred Arya and his brother Kreshna in the lead and was directed by himself. That movie however, failed to set the cash registers ringing. Talking about Vishnuvardhan's new production venture, an industry insider said, "This web series is said to revolve around four or five different stories and talks are on with top stars in the industry to star in it. Also, Vishnu is only going to produce this project and will not be directing it!" Web series are the flavour of the season and it looks like Vishnuvardhan too wants to be in vogue!
Meanwhile, on the direction front, Vishnuvardhan is currently working on a Bollywood movie for Karan Johar's production house - Dharma Productions. This movie, said to be the biopic of the Kargil War hero Captain Vikram Batra, will star young talent Siddharth Malhotra in the lead. Vikram Batra was posthumously awarded India's highest military award - the Param Vir Chakra, as he laid down his life while protecting our country, at the age of 24!
