Punnagai Arasi KR Vijaya has acted in more than 500 films in a stellar career. She is known for her infectious smile and divine looks, which fetched her many ‘amman’ roles in various films. She has worked with many top legends of the industry. She made her screen debut in 1963 with Karpagam and went on to act across all the film industries in the South. Her memorable films include Ooty Varai Uravu, Pattanathil Boodham, Server Sundaram, Kandan Karunai, Idhayakamalam and Manam Oru Korangu, among others.
After her marriage to industrialist Velayudham, she stopped acting and later on after his death, she again started acting in films although her focus was more on TV serials. Now, the veteran will be featuring in a film to be directed by Sai Ilavarasan, a former assistant of RK Selvamani and TP Gajendran. This film has been titled Kodeeswari. Sources confirm the news stating, “Yes, KR Vijaya madam is coming back to the silver screen after a lengthy break. She will be playing dual roles in this project.”
Kodeeswari has Mohan as the lead hero and Rizwan as a cop. Debutantes Ashma and Supraja play the heroines. Nellai Siva, Muthu, Anjali and Karate Raja are a part of the supporting cast. The film is a commercial entertainer and is said to have the right mix of comedy, sentiments, romance, action and folklore. It is expected to cater to all types of audiences.
