After having a good run at the box office with 2017’s Raja the Great, Ravi Teja suffered from three back-to-back flops last year. It was definitely a forgettable year for the actor who is known for his comic timing and terrific screen presence. Sometime in 2018 though, reports had flown out that Ravi Teja would be working on the Telugu remake of the Tamil blockbuster Theri, which had Vijay playing the role of a cop. But soon after, the actor announced Disco Raja with director Vi Anand, and the talks of the remake vanished.
However, sources close to the unit have now revealed that the idea of the Theri remake is still up and kicking, and will go on floors in April. Director Santhosh Srinivas, who directed the Ram starrer Kandireega, will be helming this project with a plan to wrap up the shoot by the start of August. If things go right, the film will be ready in time for a Dussehra release this year.
It is quite funny to see this project come up, as Theri was already dubbed into Telugu and released as Policeodu. Since the dubbed version didn’t gather much attention, it works in the favour of Ravi Teja and his team, who have jumped onto the opportunity. While Tollywood birdies have already said that Catherine Tresa would play one of the female leads in the remake, let’s wait for an official announcement from the makers.
