Debutant director Barath Neelakandan, having apprenticed with Arun Vaidhyanathan in Nibunan, got his opportunity to go independent for a film titled K 13. This film is produced by SP Cinemas and has Arulnithi and Shraddha Srinath as the leads. Darbuka Siva of 'Maru Vaarthai Pesadhae' and 'Visiri' from Enai Nokki Paayum Thotta fame, was originally roped in to score this movie's music but a press note from the production team that came in recently revealed that he is being replaced by Sam C S, music composer of Vikram Vedha fame.
When we contacted director Barath, this is what he had to say about the replacement. He said, “The project had a different timeline earlier, but it was offset by a few months. Therefore, it eventually clashed with Siva’s directorial pursuits. So it was kind of difficult for both him and our team. Hence we thought we would team up some other time. It was actually good interacting with him. We had many discussions; he loved the story and all. Only problem was the timeline clash”.
Reported to be a psychological drama, with a non-linear screenplay, K-13's first look has generated a lot of expectation among the audiences. Generally, such films are classified as thrillers but according to the director, this movie falls under the mystery genre. Aravinnd Singh is handling the cinematography for this project, which is currently in the post production phase and would soon be getting ready for release. Stay tuned for further updates!
