Udhay Stalin will be opening his release account for the year with Kanne Kalaimane, set for release on February 22nd. The film also stars Tamannaah alongside him; Seenu Ramasamy has directed the film with Yuvan Shankar Raja in charge of the music. Udhay plays a farmer while Tamannaah plays a bank officer. In a recent interview, Udhay said that Kanne Kalaimane will be a typical Seenu Ramasamy film which will be feel-good and give an emotional high to the audience. There will be some political dialogues in line with the film’s story along with romance between the lead pair and a grandmother - grandson sentiment angle. Udhay had an interesting backstory on how he got to work with Yuvan for the first time,
“We had given a thanks card to Yuvan at the beginning of my first film Oru Kal Oru Kannadi as we chose it as the title only after his song of the same title became such a big hit in Siva Manasula Sakthi. Yuvan had been asking me casually when I would work with him and used to joke if I would work only with Harris Jayaraj. We decided to safely repeat the Dharmadurai trio of Seenu Ramasamy - Yuvan - Vairamuthu for Kanne Kalaimane. More than the songs, Kanne Kalaimane is a film in which Yuvan’s background score will definitely be spoken about.”
Udhay also made it clear that he wishes to focus on content-oriented films in the coming years and stay clear of mindless comedy entertainers that he has done a lot of. He has films like Psycho with Mysskin and Kannai Nambaadhe with director Mu Maran, after Kanne Kalaimane.
