It’s the season of awards in Tamil cinema, with the JFW (Just For Women) Awards being the latest on Friday night at a popular star hotel in Chennai. Women achievers in the year that just went by, were honoured with awards in various categories. Vijay Sethupathi’s Iraivi clothing store was the main sponsor of the awards, and the ‘Makkal Selvan’ was the main attraction at the event. Other big stars like Trisha, Sivakarthikeyan, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rajesh, Arun Vijay and Harish Kalyan were also present.
Vijay Sethupathi generously appreciated Sivakarthikeyan for producing a film like Kanaa and also making sure that it was promoted not like a Sivakarthikeyan film but with Aishwarya Rajesh and Sathyaraj at the forefront. Kanaa was a big winner, bagging many awards like the Best Woman Oriented Film, Best Actress Critics Choice, Best Producer and Director of a Woman Oriented Film, to name a few. Young Aaradhana Sivakarthikeyan was also honoured with a young achiever award for crooning Kanaa's mega chartbuster song 'Vaayadi Pethapulla', and she was the center of all attention when she was on stage.
Vijay Sethupathi also praised Aishwarya Rajesh to the sky for slogging it out really hard for Kanaa. He said that other heroines would’ve worried about their skin getting tanned and losing its shine, if they had done a film like Kanaa. Aishwarya also expressed happiness at bagging her first award of the year from Sethupathi, whom she considers a dear friend and well-wisher.Read More
