Vijay Sethupathi is someone who speaks his mind at press meets. In the past, he has openly admitted about his weight issues, the problems facing the industry and how he doesn’t have the taste to appreciate art house films like Merku Thodarchi Malai (a film that he actually produced). On Wednesday morning, the star actor was the chief guest at the launch of director Cheran’s new film titled Thirumanam. After the launch, Vijay Sethupathi was hounded by members of the press and he spent about 5 minutes interacting with them.
One reporter kept asking him about the release time issues faced by some of his recent films like 96. Sethupathi said that this was a deep rooted issue and that he didn’t wish to pinpoint any specific names and create a controversy. He expressed regret about how the director of the film Aan Dhevadhai, Mr.Thamira suffered during the release of the film and how none paid attention to what he said.
When the reporter didn’t relent and asked him if his upcoming film Seethakaathi would also face such financial issues upon release, the actor lost his cool and told the reporter that he was just looking for controversy and wasn’t prepared to listen to answers. Sethupathi also invited the reporter to come over to his office and analyze, discuss this issue in detail and not just look to create a sensational story. The video of this little press meet has gone viral.
