Tamil and Kannada actress Vijayalakshmi, who was last seen in Hip Hop Adhi's Meesaya Murukku, has been admitted to a hospital due to high blood pressure. The actress is currently being treated by a team of doctors in the Intensive Care Unit at the Mallya Hospital, Bengaluru. Vijayalakshmi rose to fame in Tamil with her role in Vijay and Suriya's film Friends. She was paired opposite Suriya and played Vijay's younger sister in the film. Her sister, Usha Devi, has made an appeal to the film industry asking for financial help for Vijayalakshmi. She put out a statement saying they had spent all the money on their mother’s treatment.
She said in the statement, "All this while we were taking care of our mother. We spent all we had on her medical treatment. Now, we have no money to get my sister treated. We really need help from the industry people." It is being said that Vijayalakshmi had been suffering from several mental and physical health problems because of which she stayed away from films and television serials. In 2006, it was reported that the actress attempted suicide after losing her father to poor health.
Although she mostly acted in Kannada and Tamil films, she has also done two movies in Malayalam and Telugu. Some of her more famous films include Nagamandala, Jodihaki and Suryavamsam. Vijayalakshmi was also recently seen in the Tamil soap, Nandhini. We pray for Vijayalakshmi's speedy recovery!
