It was announced sometime back that Mahesh Babu and Anil Ravipudi are joining hands for the first time for a new film. Anil is currently enjoying the success of his last film F2: Fun and Frustration. Rumours were doing the rounds that Kannada actor Upendra was approached for the role of the antagonist in this film but declined the offer as he is contesting in the upcoming elections. Now, the latest buzz is that veteran actress Vijayashanti, who took a break from films, has also been approached for a critical role in the film.
The actress was last seen on the big screen in 2006 and she used to be one of the highest paid actresses of her time. If these rumours do come true, she will be seen back on the big screen after a gap of thirteen long years. It is to be noted though, that she has rejected quite a lot of films before to focus on her political career. In fact, reportedly she was offered the role of Sivagami in Baahubali but she had turned it down. Talking about this, an industry insider said, "Though Vijayashanthi has earlier rejected a number of movies, including Baahubali, there is a very high chance that she might accept this project as it has a very good scope for her!"
This film, which is aiming for a Sankranti 2020 release, has Rashmika Mandanna as the heroine and Devi Sri Prasad as the music composer. Anil Sunkara will be producing this film. It is temporarily being called Mahesh 26. Mahesh was last seen in Bharat Ane Nenu and he received a lot of good reviews for it. He is currently completing the shoot of director Vamshi Paidpally's Maharshi that is scheduled to hit screens on 9th May. Stay tuned as we continue to give you more updates on this!
