RRR: Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn on board SS Rajamouli’s next
Over the past few weeks, there have been many rumours floating around on SS Rajamouli’s RRR, a project which is the cynosure of all eyes in the southern film industry. This big trilingual which has been put up at a budget of close to 300 crores, stars Ram Charan and NTR together for the first time ever. And this film, has just got even bigger with the fresh set of updates that Rajamouli has put out on Thursday morning through the official press meet. Rajamouli has confirmed that both Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt have agreed to be a part of the film, in important roles. While Ajay will be seen in a pivotal flashback portion, Alia Bhatt will be paired up with Ram Charan.
“RRR is a completely fictitious tale about two legendary freedom fighters Alluri Seetharamaraju and Komaram Bheem. The film is loosely based on their real-life characters, and is set in the 1920s where both of them started away from home in Delhi. The whole film is being mounted on a really large scale, as I don’t like anything to be small. We had to do a lot of research on the lifestyle of the characters before independence, right from their costumes to the dialects to the sets and everything else,” said the director, revealing the storyline.
Opening up about the rest of the cast, Rajamouli said “When we are doing a film at this scale, the supporting characters too need to be very big and important. Ajay Devgn has accepted a very strong role in the film, and will be a powerful character in the flashback. He is very happy with his role and has allotted dates as well. Alia Bhatt will be paired opposite Charan; we met in Mumbai and she is very excited about her character in the film and will be shooting soon. Samuthirakani is one of the important characters too, and will be a backbone of the film. Daisy Edgar Jones will be paired up with NTR.”
Rajamouli concluded by saying that RRR will be the common title, though the expansions will be different across all languages. Owing to the excitement among the fans, the team are inviting suggestions from the people, and will be going forward with it if it is better than what they already have in mind.
Two schedules of the shoot have been completed so far with Ahmedabad and Pune legs lined up next. RRR will hit the screens worldwide on July 30, 2020, in ten Indian languages.
