Sanjay Dutt scripted his return on screen well but it was apparently not done skillfully enough for ‘Bhoomi’ left theaters like a breeze without fluttering a single leaf. Dutt seems to have taken the loss seriously as he has now stepped out of Bhoomi director, Omung Kumar’s next film, ‘The Good Maharaja’. His decision came after the first look of the film was released a few months back.
The film was about to start shoot next month as per Mumbai Mirror but Dutt bailing out of the project has left the film with a severe setback. Omung was apparently in a hurry to compete with Ashutosh Gowarikar who is also making a movie on the life and works of Maharaja Jam Sahib Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji, who was the ruler of Nawanagar during the British rule.
While it is not certain why Dutt opted out of the film after looking ravishingly stately in the first poster, his spokesperson confirmed he will no longer be playing the king, “Sanjay Dutt is not doing The Good Maharaja with Omung Kumar.”
The movie had already seen a fair share of trouble in the form of legalities when the daughters and heirs of the Maharaja Hershad Kumari and Himanshu Kumari sent a cease and desist notice to Omung Kumar, co-producer Sandeep Singh and their joint venture, Legend Studios for not seeking their approval before announcing the film.Despite the flop come back, Dutt still has a line of projects under his belt like Mukesh Bhatt’s Sardak 2 and is currently shooting for Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3.
