The deadly terror attack that took place in Pulwama district, Kashmir has shook the entire nation. About 40 CRPF soldiers lost their lives when an explosive-laden SUV driven by a member of the terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) drove into a bus carrying soldiers. Many celebrities have condemned this attack and expressed disgust over the situation. However, Navjot Singh Sidhu passed a statement that didn’t go down well with a lot of netizens.
"For a handful of people, can you blame the entire nation and can you blame an individual?" He added, "It (the attack) is a cowardly act and I condemn it firmly. Violence is always condemnable and those who did it must be punished." His comment was bashed by a lot of Twitter users who also demanded to boycott The Kapil Sharma Show, of which Sidhu is a member. A few also urged people to unsubscribe from the channel Sony Television unless Sidhu is expelled from the show.
Meanwhile, commenting on the attack, PM Narendra Modi stated that those responsible for the attack will ‘pay a very heavy price’. “Our neighbouring country, which has been isolated internationally, thinks such terror attacks can destabilise us, but their plans will not materialise,” he said.
