Dhanush made a fabulous directorial debut with Power Paandi aka Pa Paandi in 2017. The heart-warming story of the movie was lauded by both critics and audiences which lead to a pompous run at the box-office. The film featured Raj Kiran in the titular role playing a 60-year-old, who goes on a self-exploration road trip. Power Paandi also starred Dhanush in a cameo. Last December, Dhanush revealed that he is all set for his second directorial project which will also feature him in the lead.
According to latest reports, Akkineni Nagarjuna might essay one of the leads in the upcoming Dhanush directorial. The makers are planning the movie as a bilingual in Tamil and Telugu languages. If this turns out to be true, then Dhanush and Nagarjuna will be sharing the screen space for the first time in their career. Reportedly, Chiranjeevi was initially approached with the offer. However, the megastar couldn’t accept the offer since he is busy with his period film Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. Nagarjuna has earlier acted in Tamil films like Ratchagan and Payanam. Besides, after the success of Tamil version of Oppiri (Thozha), which featured Karthi and Nagarjuna; the makers felt that Nagarjuna will turn lucky for this movie too.
This year, Dhanush will first work on Balaji Mohan’s Maari 2 in Tenkasi. Only after completion of the project, he’ll start working on his second directorial project. While Sai Pallavi plays the female lead in the film, Malayalam star Tovino Thomas essays the main antagonist.
