Venky Atluri's directorial debut Tholi Prema starring Varun Tej and Raashi Khanna in lead roles released on February 9. The film grabbed attention with the title mirroring Pawan Kalyan's 1998 hit film. Varun Tej has earlier impressed us with his performance in Sekhar Kammula's, Sai Pallavi starrer Fidaa. He enjoys a huge fan base in the south and made his debut with 2014 movie Mukunda, which was directed by Srikanth Addala opposite Pooja Hegde.
Raashi Khanna, on the other hand, starred in the recently released Touch Chesi Chudu with Ravi Teja. Talking to Hyderabad Times about Tholi Prema, she had said, “My role in Tholi Prema is a very performance-oriented one. The film will establish me as more than just a glam girl.”
The 2-hour-13-minute long movie also features music from SS Thaman, who has his hands full with several big projects. Thaman's fans had loved the album of 'Tholi Prema and its songs like Break the Rules, Sunona Sunaina, Vinnaanae Vinnane, Ninnila, Allasani Vaari and of course the title track, Tholiprema, surely won our hearts!
Produced by B V S N Prasad the film also stars Sapan Pabbi, Priyadarshi Pullikonda, Suhasini Maniratnam, Vidyullekha Raman and Hyper aadhi. Venky Atluri who wrote movies like Kerintha' and 'It's My Love Story', marks his debut as a director with Tholi Prema. The Telugu romantic drama tells us about a fun loving guy Aditya, who falls in love at first sight of the geeky beauty Varsha. Fate separates them as they grow older, but brings them together six years later. Sumanth's recent release Malli Raava had also showcased a plot similar to this.
Tholi Prema, which features cinematography by George C Williams, has so far received a phenomenal response on Twitter. From calling it a sweet and emotional romantic drama to a must watch romantic “feel good film”, the leading stars’ fans have been praising the film a lot on the micro-blogging site Twitter.
