Bollywood celebrities create milestones with each release that hits the box office. A hit or a flop, every film is a unique lesson. Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan entered the 100 crore club last year with Judwaa 2 and there has been little to look back since then. But that had not always been the case explained the star. Off camera he had a real time hichki which he struggled hard to overcome.
“When I walked up onstage for the first time, I just froze. Seeing Madhuri Dixit, the late Sridevi ji and so many cinema idols in the front rows, I lost my tongue for some time. And when I did speak, I spoke so fast that I was barely coherent. Since I had never faced issues while facing the camera, this Hichki came up quite unexpectedly. I decided to address it by listening and observing my idols. It didn't quite work immediately. But gradually, I did learn how to tackle this challenge. I practiced on it and eventually, could perform and speak onstage well. Setting your mind to it, I think, all of us can overcome all these Hichkis,” the actor told Rani Mukerji.
Dhawan for most part of his career has come across as jovial and the ultimate boy next door actor. Even during award seasons the actor brought his peppy persona on stage but now we know that his free spirit did not come easy and that it took hard work on his part.
Dhawan will next be seen in Shoojit Sircar’s October which hits the theaters on April 13.
