Cattle roaming the streets in India is not an unusual sight but when a bull interrupts BJP MP and actress Hema Malini’s work schedule in her constituency, everyone involved begins to sit up and take notice. The incident took place while she was on her surprise inspection to Mathura Railway Station on Wednesday. The bull is said to have barged into the station premise and crossed Malini’s path. Mathura station manager KL Meena has been suspended and probe launched into the incident.
The MP was conducting an out-of-turn inspection to take account of the station’s condition and facilities when she met the strange guest. As may have been obvious to her, the situation at Mathura station was not up to the mark given that there was bull barging within its premises. Hema Malini and the bull crossing paths led to the suspension of the station manager for allegedly failing to curb the menace.
Given that the country has been favourable to the cow kind, more in the recent past than ever before, it make us wonder why the outcry over letting our preferred deities roam freely. The incident also begs the question, does it take an incident involving an MP and a veteran actress to address a dangerous issue like this one?
