The coolest Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau finds an equally charming political rival in 38-year-old Jagmeet Singh who finds his roots in India and is a Canadian Sikh politician. Charismatic Singh becomes the first non-white to lead a major leftist political party, New Democratic Party (NDP) in Canada. Looks like our Sardarji is giving tough competition to Mr. Trudeau by sporting flamboyant turbans, classy suits and dealing with reckless racists with love.
Singh was recently in news for pacifying an angry woman who accused him of supporting Islamic law. The video went viral over the social media and Singh was seen doing what he is best at. Man of impactful words won hearts as he kept chanting, “we love you” to counter false allegations by the racist heckler.
Soon after getting elected with 53.6% votes on Sunday, Singh told the cheering crowd, "I am officially launching my campaign to be the next Prime Minster of Canada." The next federal election in Canada is set for October 2019.
A lawyer by profession, Jagmeet was born to immigrant parents from Punjab. His brown complexion and an unordinary headgear made him a victim of racism. Singh was picked on as a child, for his name and long hair too.
Leaving no stone unturned, Singh goes neck to neck with Trudeau. After the boxing champion, Canada might see a Brazilian jiu-jitsu (martial arts) champion very soon.
Keeping the co-curricular aside and focusing on the main business, Singh follows a strong political ideology. He follows the slogan “With love and courage”. He vowed to raise taxes for Canadians with the highest incomes, decriminalize drug use, raise the minimum wage to 15 Canadian dollars ($12) an hour and remove children from Canada's "no-fly list". Being barred from travelling to India 2013, Unfortunately, our Saradarji does not share a good rapport with the Indian government as he believes they are to be held responsible for the anti-Sikh riot, according toEconomic Times.
