Indian film producer Karim Morani accused of raping a Delhi based woman has finally surrendered before the Rachakonda police in Telangana. The rape victim who has been fighting since 8 months was only given ‘Tareekh Pe Tareekh’ and no justice. The latter has produced big banner films like Chennai Express, Ra.One, Damini (how ironic), Raja Hindustani and many more.
Morani reportedly surrendered after the Supreme Court asked him to submit himself before the law and rejected his bail plea. According to Firstpost, a judiciary bench that comprises of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices AM Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud asked the producer to surrender before the Telangana police.
The 25 year old rape victim, who is a Bachelor of Business Management student, came forward with her allegations in January this year accused him of rape charges twice- once in a film studio at city outskirts of Hyderabad in 2015 and again in Mumbai.
Morani had allegedly been threatening the victim with “elimination by underworld” as per Karuna Nundy’s tweet who is the victim’s advocate.
The sessions court had taken note of the fact that Morani, who is also an accused in the 2G scam case, had concealed the fact that he was facing trial in the high profile corruption case and had been in jail for several months.Morani will undergo a medical examination and will be presented before the court today, September 23, 2017.
