Limit Yourself No More, Twitter Doubles The Character Limit
Next time you get into a Twitter war, you'll have more space for your come backs. Twitter’s 11-year-old claim to fame of expressions in 140 characters is officially being pulled out. Mulling over the fact that the users are trapped within 140 characters and are unable to freely express themselves, Twitter has doubled the character limit to 280 characters.
The micro-blogging site believes that 140 characters is restricting the user’s initial thoughts as they try to get them under the limit. The move appears to be part of an effort to get people to tweet more. Two Twitter product managers, Aliza Rosen and Ikuhiro Ihara, wrote on the company’s official blog, “when people don’t have to cram their thoughts into 140 characters and actually have some to spare, we see more people Tweeting – which is awesome!”However, the outrage on Twitter is evident. The users blame Twitter for having lost its essence. The art of saying more in less words is missing from Twitter now. How can we not miss our favourite tweets of all times which were only possible because of the restricted character limit? Here’s a look.
1. Obama's presidential mic drop
Four more years
2. When even twitter refuses to remove the tweet
Just heard Foreign Minister of North Korea speak at U.N. If he echoes thoughts of Little Rocket Man, they won't be around much longer!
These tweets are simply hilarious for only one reason, their crispness.
Trump on Hillary and Bill Clinton:
Hillary Clinton has announced that she is letting her husband out to campaign but HE'S DEMONSTRATED A PENCHANT FOR SEXISM, so inappropriate!Sadly people like Rishi Kapoor, Kamal Rashid Khan (KRK) and Donald Trump will now unstoppably contaminate 140 characters more of babble. All thanks to the increased word limit.

Why have newspapers started this half page business? It is so uncomfortable to hold whilst reading. It falls off. pic.twitter.com/qQi4rL7uL2

Twitter is convinced that increasing its character limit helps attract a larger audience. However, their existing users are not buying that.
Laying aside criticism, their new development brings a ray of hope for distressed Indians living overseas who can now reach out to Sushma Swaraj with a few more characters. The Foreign Affairs minister is known to actively respond to request on Twitter.Although opinions are balanced on either side of the argument, the development is currently in testing phase. So, tweet all you want while it lasts.
