After selfies and groupfies, there seems to be a growing trend among people who are clicking selfies with cows. It’s called the cowfie. With cows being the hot topic in the country, wouldn’t it be cool to take ‘cowfies’ and get awards for it? A Kolkata based NGO has come up with an app called ‘Gomata’ which helps you do just that. Goseva Parivar is dedicated to the well-being of cows in the country.
With the ‘Gomata’ app users can click selfies with cows and be a part of their “click a selfie with Gomata” contest, which by the way ends on December 31, 2017. An award awaits whoever wins the contest, though it is not clear what the winning prize is. We wonder if it will be a live cow.
According to report in the Hindu, a senior RSS leader is quoted as saying, “Even though we are not directly involved with the contest, we ideologically support and appreciate it.”
At the time of writing this post, Google Play shows that the app has around 1,000 installs since its last update on October 30. According to the Play Store description, Goseva Parivar has a vision which they want to spread with the app - “Serving mother cow by serving humanity." They accept financial contributions as well.
“A simple and fun way to encourage our noble purposes as much as you wish. Our conception is to do well for its own sake, therefore, each action counts. Goseva Parivar is a reasonable crowdfunding program that with the strength of engagement, gives a new and positive way to live life in the rural area by preserving Mother Cow's life.” – Gomata’s description on Google Play. The winners will be declared on January 21, 2018 at an event in Swabhumi, Kolkata. Not a bad way to start the new year, is it? Just remember, the selfies – no, wait…cowfies need to be with “Desi” or “Indian” cows only.
