The 2017 edition of the Tokyo Motor Show is off to a vrooming start. The show is said to showcase some of the best automobiles from across the globe and has always been used as a platform to display cars for the future and also superior concepts that reveal what driving could look like a few years from now.
Japanese auto giant Honda Motor Co showcased concepts of its electric vehicles, including Urban EV concept. The company also unveiled its Sports EV concept cars. An electric powertrain paired with artificial intelligence technology.
Toyota unveiled its concept intelligent battery-electric car designed for the urban environment. The battery-powered four-seat car has a remarkable design and has a range of 100-150 km on a single charge. The concept is a combination of Artificial Intelligence and machine learning and enhanced urban mobility with a machine learning interface known as ‘The Agent’.
Much like Toyota, Suzuki too will have an elaborate setup of concepts on display at the 45th Tokyo Motor Show. The Suzuki e-Survivor is a concept for a futuristic SUV powered with four in-wheel electric motors and a battery pack. The two-seater futuristic car will also be capable of Autonomous driving. It has a retractable roof that draws parallels to the company's X-90 mini-SUV released in the mid-1990s.
Japanese carmaker Nissan unveiled the Nissan IMx, an all-electric crossover concept vehicle proposing fully autonomous operation and a driving range of more than 600 kilometers. The IMx’s technological features is a future version of pro-pilot that offers fully autonomous operation. When Pro-Pilot drive mode is selected, the system stows the steering wheel inside the dashboard and reclines all seats, giving the driver more space and allowing the vehicle’s occupants to relax and enjoy their commute. When manual drive mode is selected, the vehicle returns the steering wheel and seats to their original position, seamlessly transferring control back to the driver.
At the end of Day-1, big brands like Suzuki, Nissan, Honda, Toyota did not disappoint automobile fans but we’re awaiting more surprises in the days to come.
