?magine that your phone ?s unable to type one of the most ?mportant and regularly used letter ‘i’. Yes! That’s what is happening with iPhone users with iOS 11, all being hit by a bug. It is failing to recognize its own brand letter- ?Phone, ?Pad, ?OS !
When one tries to type the letter ‘i’ it automatically corrects it to ‘A?’
The world is reeling with confusion over this bug given that ‘i’ can practically change the whole sentence. ‘But don’t you worry because we have solution for you…’ There is a fix that can make the iPhone work properly. Although it isn’t clear how the bug came into place.
It's possible to correct the letters once they're in a text, though it is difficult since they'll keep getting replaced. Any texts hit by the bug will obviously be rendered nonsensical – unless the person reading them is experiencing the same thing and so knows your pain.
The bug came attached with iOS 11.1 which indeed came with updates to fix bugs along with a new range of emojis. However, it is surprising that not every device with the new software is affected by the bug for which there is no clear reason as well. Is Elon Musk’s words turning into wisdom when he said that AI will take over the world? Is it already happening?
Never mind, it seems to happen in every app that uses the keyboard, affecting not only iMessage but others like Instagram and Twitter. Even Kim Kardarshian fell prey to it.
Apple has acknowledged the problem and an update to fix it is on its way. But it's also offered a way to work around it in the meantime, with a slightly complicated but reliable fix that uses its text replacement tool.
Go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Text replacement.Click the"+" button to add a new text replacement: type an upper-case "I" in the Phrase box, and a lower-case "i" in the Shortcut one.
