If only the royal palace walls could talk. It is not yet known what the Queen said of her newest great-grandson and his proud parents Meghan Markle and Prince Harry when she met Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor for the first time yesterday. However, royal gossip of yore suggests Her Royal Highness does not shy from making a wise-crack when there is a new addition to the Mountbatten line to be remarked upon. According to the Daily Express, the Queen was heard making a rather harsh remark about Prince William when he was born. She said, "Thank goodness he hasn't ears like his father."
If Prince Charles' famous ears weren't burning after that comment, they certainly would have been had he been old enough to understand what his father said when he first laid eyes upon his progeny. According to 2013 Netflix Documentary the 'Royals,' Prince Philip commented that his newborn son looked like a "plum pudding." As far as Prince Philip comments go, it's hardly a remark to lose one's Crown Jewels over.
But it was none other than Prince Charles himself who really took the cake for royal birth bedside manner, according to Andrew Morton's 1992 biography 'Diana: Her True Story'. Upon meeting newborn Harry, Charles was said to exclaim: "Oh God, it's a boy! And he's even got red hair."
