The Mumbai-based dance group The Kings recently performed at an American dance reality show called World of Dance. The show was aired on February 26 and the group’s adrenaline-filled performance impressed all judges. The Kings had a number of gravity-defying stunts lined up for their routine and while the crowd went bonkers over them, the judges couldn’t hold their excitement either. World-renowned artists Jennifer Lopez, Derek Hough and Ne-Yo were left stunned and as a sign of respect, they threw their shoes at the performers' feet.
The Kings are representing India in the third season of the World of Dance. The group performed to the tunes of Dhakka Laga Bukka, a track from the 2004 Bollywood flick titled Yuva. Music director AR Rahman was amazed by the performance of the boys and tweeted his best wishes to the team. Interestingly, Rahman was the composer of the track and also sung it.
According to reports, last year the judges at World of Dance were similarly impressed by a performance by Shantanu Maheshwari’s group called ‘Desi Hoppers.’ The Kings reportedly were the second runners-up at the World Hip-Hop Championship in 2015. They also appeared on a dance championship on Star Plus.Read More
