Priyanka Chopra, Mary Kom make it to Forbes India’s Women Power Trailblazers of the year list
March 8, 2019, is the Women’s Day and just a few days before, on March 1, 2019, Forbes India has announced a list of Women Power Trailblazers of the year. The list has known faces as well as the lesser-known women leaders, who have fought stereotypes, bent gender norms and worked passionately to make a mark in traditionally male-dominated fields. The list features strong women who are activists, architects, sportspersons, technology leaders, lawyers, entrepreneurs and others. Our very own Desi Girl, Priyanka Chopra has also made it to the list.
Brian Carvalho, the editor of Forbes India, said, “These are women who want change, are working towards it, and creating it.” Priyanka Chopra is on the cover of the issue, but the reason behind that is not her work in the film industry. PeeCee is surely an inspiration for a lot of women and has made it to Forbes India W-Power Trailblazers list for a different reason like for her sharp technology investments in Silicon Valley, which is surely feminist in nature, working to improve the lives of women everywhere.

Mary Kom, who has made India proud, by winning medals in boxing has also made it to the list. The other powerful women in the list are Komal Mangtani, head of engineering and business intelligence for Uber globally, Seema Rao, a doctor-turned-combat trainer who has trained all of India’s elite armed forces in close-quarter battle, Bhakti Sharma, an open water swimmer and the youngest in the world to swim the freezing Atlantic waters and Rajlakshmi Borthakur, who developed a wearable ring that can predict epileptic attacks by monitoring blood pressure and pulse.
This list surely introduces us to some of the most powerful women of our country and makes us proud to know that women are excelling in all the fields.
