Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's fairytale wedding still remains fresh in all our minds. When we talk about the wedding, we can also clearly recall the series of speculations regarding her father Thomas Markle walking her down the aisle. At first, it was Thomas who decided to not walk Meghan down her aisle after reports revealed he staged a paparazzi photo shoot to get pictures of himself preparing for the wedding. Following which, it was reported that he was willing to attend the wedding but failed due to his heart surgery. As per the latest developments, Meghan wrote a letter to her father saying that him failing to attend her wedding broke her heart ‘into a million pieces’.
The previous reports also stated that Thomas spoke critically of Meghan and Prince Harry to several tabloids. In the letter, as quoted by the Daily Mail, Meghan wrote, "Daddy, it is with a heavy heart that I write this, not understanding why you have chosen to take this path, turning a blind eye to the pain you are causing, Your actions have broken my heart into a million pieces - not simply because you have manufactured such unnecessary and unwarranted pain, but by making the choice to not tell the truth as you are puppeteered in this. Something I will never understand."
"If you love me, as you tell the press you do, please stop. Please allow us to live our lives in peace. Please stop lying, please stop creating so much pain, please stop exploiting my relationship with my husband," the letter added.
Additionally, she also pointed out that Thomas even did not let her know that he wasn’t attending the wedding.
However, Mr Markle had only thought the otherwise before opening the letter and hadn’t expected that it would turn out to be ‘deeply hurtful’.
"When I opened the letter I was hoping it was the olive branch I'd longed for," he said. "I was expecting something that would be a pathway to reconciliation. Instead, it was deeply hurtful. I was so devastated I couldn't show it to anyone and never would have had it not been for the events of last week,” he told the site.
