Members of opposition parties getting into fights is nothing new. People rarely get physical, only words are exchanged and it becomes popcorn entertainment. However, in a recent Bharatiya Janata Party meeting in Sant Kabir Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, something different happened. The party members started fighting with each other and got violent. So, at a meeting in Sant Kabir Nagar, BJP MP Sharad Tripathi got into a fight with BJP MLA Rakesh Singh Baghel and the former started hitting the latter with his shoes.
The incident took place during a meeting of the District Action Plan Committee at the Collectorate. A lot of other representatives and officials were present at the meeting. It first started as an argument between them over the placement of names on a foundation stone of a project. Sharad Tripathi couldn’t control his anger and started hitting Rakesh Singh Baghel with his shoes! It was a furious move by Tripathi and in return, Singh started slapping him. The police had to intervene to stop the fight between the two.
Reportedly, Tripathi and Singh don’t share a good rapport with each other. An eye witness told ANI, "The meeting was underway when the brawl broke out between the BJP MP and MLA over some issue related to PWD. We could not even complete the meeting. This is highly condemnable. We were trying to discuss things about development, members and officers were also present.”
Talking about the fight, UP BJP President, Mahendra Nath Panday told ANI, “We have taken cognizance of this condemnable incident and both have been summoned to Lucknow. Strict disciplinary action will be taken.”
