Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman was in Pakistan recently to strengthen its ties with the country. It was after the Pulwama terror attack that took place on February 14. During his visit, Mohammad Bin Salman stated that he can be considered Pakistan's ambassador to Saudi Arabia. After his visit to Pakistan, on Tuesday night, Mohammad Bin Salman came to India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed him at the airport. This has surely not gone down well with the opposition party, Congress as they took to Twitter to show their displeasure on it.
Congress tweeted that PM Modi has broken the protocol by personally welcoming Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman. They also questioned why the PM extended such a grand welcome for someone who promised billions to Pakistan. Not just this, they also questioned PM Modi's patriotism. It is clear that Congress is very upset with this, but now we wait to check BJP's reply.
Congress’ Randeep Singh Surjewala also took to Twitter to share a joint statement by Imran Khan and Mohammad Bin Salman in which they haven’t condemned the violence and instead they have praised Pakistan's 'anti-terror' efforts.
On the other hand, Sushma Swaraj met Mohammed Bin Salman and discussed the relationship between India and Saudi Arabia in various fields like trade and investment to defence and security, and regional cooperation.
