A first-term Senator and former California Attorney General, Kamala Harris, who also happens to be of Indian-origin, has revealed her participation in the 2020 presidential elections in the United States of America. Kamala made the revelation on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” confirming months of speculation that she indeed has intentions of making it to the top position in the White House. Later, Kamala took to her social media and announced her Presidency run with a video that showcased all her promises for a better America.
Kamala Harris is well-known for her staunch criticism against President Donald Trump’s immigration policies. Kamala, in her interview, said that Americans deserve a president who will fight for them, hear them, care about them and put them in front of their own self-interests. 54-year-old Kamala Harris was born in Oakland, California to an Indian mother and a Jamaican father. Kamala’s mother, Shyamala Gopalan Harris, was breast cancer scientist and father, Donald Harris, is an economics professor. Both her parents migrated to the US in 1961.

Kamala began her political career as a deputy district attorney in Alameda County, California after which she became the district attorney of San Francisco. In the year 2010, Harris defeated her Republican opponent to become California’s attorney general, wherein she served till the year 2017. She was later elected to the US Senate. Known for her outspoken nature, Harris has managed to garner a lot of following for her anti-Trump campaigns. Harris has also campaigned on behalf of several women and minority candidates.
