February is considered to be the month of love and looks like the Rahul Gandhi led Indian National Congress party is in a mood to leave their bitter past behind (or is it). Ahead of Valentine’s day, the Congress has extended it’s Valentine’s week greetings to it’s biggest rivals, the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP). While we have always seen the two parties at loggerheads, accusing each other and tearing each other down, Tuesday saw an altogether different side to the opposition party.
Taking to their official Twitter handle, Congress put out a video saying that BJP should HUG and NOT HATE. Clearly, Congress’ love message was reeking of sarcasm. The video in the tweet is a collection of several messages and moments. It has few Mahatma Gandhi's wise words too like ‘Love the sinner. Not the sin,’ and ‘Love is the prerogative of the brave,’. An image where we see Congress chief Rahul Gandhi hugging Prime Minister Narendra Modi inside the Parliament premises stands out as the best.
For the uninitiated, February 12 is celebrated as the Hug Day, in which a person shows his or her love towards their partner, family, and friends by hugging it out. With the Lok Sabha elections around the corner, a good portion of love will definitely be needed as the two fierce rivals battle it out for the top job.
