The terrorist attack in Pulwama district of Kashmir has taken the entire nation by rage. While most of the celebs expressed their sorrow and anger with utmost disappointment, cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu, had a rather diplomatic point of view. His statement, "For a handful of people, can you blame the entire nation and can you blame an individual? It (the attack) is a cowardly act and I condemn it firmly. Violence is always condemnable and those who did it must be punished,” has irked people to such an extent that they want him out of politics altogether.
It was only a few hours back when the news of Sidhu being sacked from The Kapil Sharma Show made its way to our screens. The call for his outage come from the rage that was caused by his pro-Pakistan comments. Sidhu was bashed by many Twitter users, who urged to boycott the comedy show, of which Sidhu was a member. As if that wasn’t enough, the netizens have now taken over the trend list with tags like #BoycottSidhu and #SackSidhuFromPunjabCabinet. As the names suggest, people are demanding to fire the former cricketer from the cabinet where he serves as the Minister of Local Government, Tourism, Cultural Affairs and Museums of the State of Punjab.
According to Twitterati, Sidhu has no moral right to represent the Indian people. Some asked him to move to Pakistan while many labelled him a traitor. People also left no chance to spam the Chief Minister of Punjab and requested him to kick Sidhu out of the Punjab Cabinet. Looks like the troubles in Navjot Singh Sidhu’s paradise have no end. We now await a statement from his end.
