With the Election Commission declaring the dates of the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the race has begun. Now is the time when political leaders will take every possible measure to reach out to the masses and the quantum of communication will suddenly get sky-high. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also reached a college in Chennai to campaign and interact with the students. The campaign was taking place at Chennai's Stella Maris college where hundreds of students gathered to listen to Rahul Gandhi - the President of the Indian Nationa Congress.
It was then that a female student named Azra wanted to ask him a question. She got up with the mic and started speaking by addressing Rahul with a 'hi sir' while he decided to interrupt her. “Can you call me Rahul instead of Sir? It makes me more comfortable', he said. Now that not only left the young student blushing who replied with an 'OK' but also met with thunderous applause. Rahul won over the students with that, we must say.
It was at the same session that Rahul also promised 33% reservation for women in Government jobs if Congress came to power. "If you visit northern Indian states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, you'll be shocked to see the way women are treated. I think Tamil Nadu leads when it comes to women and how they should be treated. But still, there's a lot which needs to be done here," he said, adding that he wanted to see women as leaders.
"We cannot have women in power in India until attitude towards women changes," he said.
