Over the last few days, the atmosphere between India and Pakistan was very tense and two nations were at the brink of war. Post the Pulwama attack on February 14, which saw 40 CRPF jawans lose their lives, India launched a counter-attack on the terrorists and bombed few places along the LoC. Post this, the two countries resorted to aerial actions against each other and, in the process, Pakistan’s F-16 plane was brought down by the Indian Air Force whereas one of our, a MiG 21 Bison was shot down and the pilot was captured in Pakistan. Post his return to the country safely, the pilot is being applauded for his brilliant efforts. Congress leader Salman Khurshid decided to take credit for the pilot’s bravery but was severely criticised.
On Friday, the Indian Air Force (IAF) Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman returned to the Indian side by the Wagah-Attari border after Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan announced in a joint Parliament session that he will be sent home. Hours post his return to the country, Congress leader Salman Khurshid took to Twitter and decided to take credit of the wing commander’s feat across the border. Salman stated that the country is proud that he received his wings in 2004 and matured as a fighter pilot during UPA reign.
But the Congress politician had no idea that he will be trolled for his statement.
This is not the first time that Congress has been called out for its insensitive and inappropriate tweet. Last year in 2018, the party’s condolence message for Sridevi's death read "awarded the Padma Shri by the UPA Govt in 2013”. The tweet didn’t go down well with the Twitterati and they were heavily criticised for the same.Read More
