Urjit Patel resigned as the Governor of Reserve Bank of India on Monday and the government has found a new man to helm India's top bank. Das was an IAS officer and after retiring in June 2014, he took charge as Union revenue secretary. In 2015, he was appointed as the economic affairs secretary and he served at the position until 2017. He's the man who planned and executed PM Modi's demonetisation drive. Upset with him already? Wait, there's more. Das also headed the implementation of the Goods And Services Tax. Shaktikanta Das spearheaded the push for GST once the Modi government came into power.
