Team India’s brutal assault on the New Zealand cricket team left the hosts in a tantalizing position in the five-match series. After losing two matches, the Kiwis now face an uphill challenge going to the third match. If they lose that, it is another series victory for India. Meanwhile, India’s dominance has not gone unnoticed by the public in New Zealand, most notably, their police force. A funny post shared by the Eastern District Police went viral as it ‘warned’ the locals about a ‘group touring the country.’
Soon after India registered their second win, the cops posted that witnesses report that ‘this group badly assault an innocent looking bunch of New Zealanders in both Napier and Mt Maunganui in the last week. Extra care should be taken if you are carrying anything that looks like a cricket bat or ball." The cops are being praised for the humour and sporting post even as the 'warning' itself is garnering a lot of positive comments with many putting across their own jokes.
The two matches against the Blackcaps had the Kane Williamson-led side struggling with their performances. The first match at Napier, saw them being bowled out for 157. In Bay Oval, they failed to chase the target of 325 and were all-out for 234 runs. New Zealand’s bowling too has been lacklustre with many of them leaking runs.
The third match, which will also be held at Mount Maunganui, will be a decider. If New Zealand manages to win this, then they’ll still live to fight another day. If India wins, then Kohli and his boys will be taking an unassailable 3-0 lead.
