Of course, the D/L method played a part, shaving off an over and two runs from India's target, but this match was India for the taking. India outclassed New Zealand in every department today and made their mark in style. Mohammad Shami and Kuldeep Yadav were the picks of the bowlers for India while Kane Williamson was the better batsman from New Zealand, scoring 64 runs. The Blackcaps drew early blood with the wicket of Rohit Sharma but never looked quite threatening at all as Kohli and Dhawan led the chase. The match saw a bizarre interruption as the sun forced the players off the pitch. Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan found some form, scoring 75* runs, after getting a life thanks to a dropped catch. Ambati Rayudu entered the action late in the day after Kohli's dismissal and saw the team through. India lead the series 1-0.
