India vs New Zealand: Rishabh Pant gears up for T20 series with a switch hit
Following India’s decisive victory against New Zealand in the ODI series, the team is now raring to go against the Blackcaps in the upcoming T20 matches. We’re just a day away from the event and India’s new ace, Rishabh Pant is ready for action. The young wicketkeeper-batsman last played a T20 in November against Australia. Prepping for the upcoming match against New Zealand, the left-hander was caught on tape attempting a switch hit.
Pant was recently named the Emerging Player of the Year by the International Cricket Council. As for the switch hit, it involves a batsman flipping his stance to the opposite direction to hit the ball. In short, a left-hander like Pant will flip to his right and smack the ball. Confused? Let Rishabh be your guide. Check out the video below. FYI, the switch hit isn’t exactly a new shot. It was popularized by Kevin Pietersen of England and by Australia’s David Warner.
The first T20 against New Zealand is scheduled for February 6 and will be held at the Westpac Stadium at Wellington. After that, the teams will shift to Auckland and Hamilton for the remaining T20s. The recent 4-1 victory over New Zealand made India the third team to pull off the feat in that country.
