Things on both professional and personal front weren't really pleasing for Indian batsman, KL Rahul, all thanks to the chaos that happened after he appeared on Karan Johar’s talk show. However, that didn’t seem to affect his generous nature as he has come out in support for an ailing former Baroda-based cricketer, Jacob Martin. As per a report in Mumbai Mirror, Martin’s family has admitted receiving a huge amount of money from the cricketer. However, they refrained from disclosing the value because of Rahul’s request. Reportedly, Rahul has donated the highest amount.
Jacob Martin, said to the publication, “A big thanks to Rahul and everyone who has helped.” Martin’s wife Khyati revealed that KL Rahul’s team reached out to the family after he learned about his critical condition and monetary issues through the newspaper, “They asked about our immediate requirement and the money was transferred into our account the same day.” Apart from KL Rahul, cricketers like Krunal Pandya, Ravi Shastri, Sourav Ganguly, Zaheer Khan, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan and Munaf Patel, too, have offered their support to the Martin family. The 46-year-old Martin further received a monetary aid of Rs 3 lakh from the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) and the BCCI.
On December 28, Jacob Martin had met with an accident because of which he injured his lungs and liver. However, the sportsman is recovering well and can’t wait for his discharge. Talking about his current condition and the will to get back to sports, Jacob said, “The body is reacting very well to treatment and I am now in a stable condition. I am hoping to be home in a couple of days and I want to return to the ground. I can’t wait for it, I just want to get back to cricket.”
