What was very interesting to watch was the Dhoni-Rohit combination. Though they didn't contribute much with the bat, they were perfect with their fielding. Plus both players worked together to set the field and strategies. Dhoni was seen giving directions to the fielders and occasionally advising the bowlers. Rohit did a splendid job in leading the team.

The day started with Rohit setting out to bat and India losing 3 early wickets. A tremendous performance by Rayudu and Shankar steadied India and a quickfire 45 from Pandya took India to 252/10. At one point it looked like a repeat of the 4th ODI but the lower-middle order's contribution brought India to a respectable total. New Zealand's openers struggle but their batters in the middle order namely Latham and Neesham provided a lot of resistance, as did captain Williamson. However, the bowling attack of Chahal (3), Shami and Pandya (2 each) broke the backbone of the hosts. Kumar and Jadhav each got a wicket.

A big victory for India here. What could've easily been 3-2 ended as 4-1 for India. After losing the match at Hamilton in an embarrassing fashion, this was a superb comeback.
