North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un is a Manchester United fan and hopes North Korean players will soon grace the Premiere League. He is a staunch football fan and never misses a major football tournament.Italian Senator Antonio Razzi, also a close friend of Kim claims to be in regular contact with the North Korean leader and their conversation includes football.
According to Razzi, Kim is pleased to see a North Korean, Han Kwang-song playing for Perugia in the Italian second tier. As a young man, he fell in love with the game while studying in San Siro, Switzerland and never misses a major football tournament.
Kim reportedly said Kwan-song is just the first among the many players that are yet to emerge from the secretive state as he believes North Korea is “a country in constant evolution”. He also expects the Premiere League to be filled up with North Korean talents.
The nuclear tyrant does not compare himself with any of the United heroes such as Zlatan or Lukaku because “Kim is Kim – he is the only one.”
According to Mail Online, monitoring groups confirmed that the Premiere League football is regularly aired on KCNA – North Korea’s state-run television channel. Major tournaments such as the World Cup and the Euro are also believed to be shown but the footage is broadcast several days after the game has been played. The telecast is reportedly aired after heavy editing and cuts, which remove shots of the crowd and adverts, since the regime does not wish to promote western lifestyle or products.
It is unclear how North Korea gets the footage for these matches as it does not have any broadcast deals with the Premiere League.
Razzi is well-known in Italian politics mainly because of his close friendship with Kim.
This isn’t the first time a tyrant has declared his support for a football team. The Sun complied an extensive list of dodgy people who were fans of several clubs.
