It was a few days since Andy Murray announced he may retire soon because the pain in his hip is not letting him enjoy competition or training. Even as his fans were coming to terms with his possible exit from the court, the tennis player took to Instagram to inform the world that he has undergone a hip resurfacing surgery in London. The surgery took place on Monday and in his post, Andy shared the picture of him lying on a hospital bed.
It may be a boring hospital bed but that famous smile is still intact. He also shared a picture of his x-ray in which we can see his metal hip. Murray described his situation right now with the words 'battered' and 'bruised' even as he hoped the surgery will end his hip pain. Murray underwent surgery on his right hip in January 2018 and has played 15 matches after he returned to the court last June.

I underwent a hip resurfacing surgery in London yesterday morning...feeling a bit battered and bruised just now but hopefully that will be the end of my hip pain 😀 I now have a metal hip as you can see in the 2nd photo 👉👉 and I look like I've got a bit of a gut in photo 1😂
The former world number one from Britain was scheduled to play in next month's Marseille Open, but that was before opting for this hip surgery. The star player could not hold back his tears at a news conference in Melbourne when he announced that it may be the final one of his career. It is surely sad that we may never see the three-time Grand Slam champion playing again even though Murray has said he hopes to be back to wrap up his career after the Wimbledon this year.
