Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) star Conor McGregor arrested for stealing a fan’s phone
Mixed martial arts superstar Conor McGregor found himself on the wrong side of the law after an altercation with a fan in Florida. According to a report by the Miami Beach Police, McGregor has been arrested for stealing the phone of a fan who attempted to take a photo of him. Reports said that McGregor was arrested on March 11 and charged with strong-armed robbery and criminal mischief, before being released later that day after posting a $12,500 bond.
McGregor was reportedly leaving the Fontainebleau Miami Beach around 5 AM when a 22-year-old man attempted to take a picture of McGregor. The cops told the media that the martial artist grabbed the phone from the man and stamped on it several times. He then grabbed the phone and took off. The police later found McGregor in a house in the Miami Beach area.
"Last evening, Conor McGregor was involved in a minor altercation involving a cellphone that resulted in a call to law enforcement," McGregor’s lawyer Samuel J Rabin Jr, said in a statement to the media. "Mr McGregor appreciates the response of law enforcement and pledges his full cooperation."
McGregor was earlier slapped a six-month suspension and fined $50,000 following a post-fight brawl after losing to Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov in October. In April 2018, the UFC fighter was accused of three counts of assault after he attacked a bus in New York that was ferrying UFC fighters. His antics had injured some of the other fighters aboard the vehicle. McGregor pleaded guilty to a toned down charge for disorderly conduct. He later made his return to the sport following a hiatus, debuting and losing against Floyd Mayweather.
