Santiago Solari on Jose Mourinho's return: Ask Julia Roberts who should coach Real Madrid
Real Madrid coach Santiago Solari has shut down the rumours of former coach Jose Mourinho joining the team back like a boss. The Real Madrid team is going through a lean patch and the back-to-back losses are making it worse. The losses also gave rise to the rumours that former Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho is all set to return to the team and that the current coach will be replaced. Answering the query, coach Santiago Solari said Real Madrid has always been more courted than Julia Roberts.
Solari took over as Real’s coach in October after Julen Lopetegui’s parted ways with the club. Solari has his contract with Real till 2021, but the recent losses have put him in a bad space. Ahead of Tuesday’s meeting with Ajax at the Bernabeu in the Champions League, while addressing the media, Solari responded to these speculations with a joke on Roberts. When asked whether the actress would prefer him or Mourinho, the Argentine smiled. “Good question,” he said. “You should ask her.”
Solari also revealed that the team will bounce back stronger after a string of losses. "It is true that we have had lots of chances in recent matches, except in the last one, and we have to take them. The dressing room is strong, these players have a lot of experience and a lot of character. That does not mean we're happy with what's happening. We want to win every game. When we do not win we are not happy, but tomorrow we have another game."
The former Manchester United coach, Mourinho managed Real Madrid for three seasons from 2010 to 2013 which many call the stormy seasons. Currently, he is the guest pundit on Qatar-based beIN Sport where he analysed Real's latest loss to Barcelona and spoke his mind on returning back to coaching the team. “Return to a club that I have been before? If I think the right club, the right structure, the right ambitions, I will have no problem at all. I think it’s really a reason of pride when a club where you worked before wants you back,” said Mourinho.
With this, rumours can take a backseat.
