Suresh Raina makes it to Jonty Rhodes' list of all time favourite fielders
South African legend Jonty Rhodes has said that he feels India's Suresh Raina is his all-time favourite fielder.
Former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes is considered as one of the best fielders of all time in cricketing history. Jonty was no less than a live wire in his hay days and there was no match to the South African legend. As the years have passed, we have seen many players work their magic on the field but paled in comparison to Jonty. Recently the legend himself picked a few of his favourite fielders from around the world and India's very own Suresh Raina was one of them.
In an interview to ICC, Jonty revealed his top five fielders of all time and the list includes players from Australia, England, South Africa and India. While fifth on the list was Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds followed by English all-rounder Paul Collingwood in the fourth spot. South African players Herschelle Gibbs and AB de Villiers got the joint third spot and interestingly, India’s left-handed batsman, Suresh Raina was Jonty’s top choice in his list.
Talking about Raina, Jonty revealed why the 32-year-old left-handed batsman made it to his list. “I’ve been a massive fan of Suresh Raina ever since he started to play. I know what the conditions of the fields are in India, and every time he practices, every time he dives, it’s gonna be so much of heat. He doesn’t even give a second hesitation of should I have dived or shouldn't have dived.” he said.

“He goes for the ball which pretty much what my philosophy is, 'if you don't go, you'll never know' and he has done that. He has taken great catches in the slips and in the outfield and in the circle. I have loved watching Suresh Raina. He is my number one fielder.” Jonty added.
Raina is currently not part of the Indian team and will be seen in action in the forthcoming Indian Premier League 2019. We are sure we will get to see some brilliance from him on the pitch again.Read More
