The bad guys are back with yet another evil ransomware. But this time their demand has crossed the boundaries of morality. Their motive goes beyond just asking for money, the victims of a new ransomware attack are being blackmailed into parting with 10 nude pictures in order to unlock their computers.
MalwareHunterTeam, experts in the malicious ransom software, published details of a virus on twitter, called nRansomware, which demands nude pictures and claims that it will sell them on the Dark Web, where IP addresses are kept anonymous. The message reads "Your computer has been locked. You can only unlock it with the special unlock code. We will not respond immediately. After we reply, you must send at least 10 nude pictures of you. After that we will have to verify that the nudes belong to you.”
The message is displayed on top of a tiled picture of children’s cartoon character Thomas the Tank engine, illustrated with the words “F*ck you!!!”
It also features an MP3 file called “your-mom-gay,” which plays the theme music from HBO's 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'.
In this case the ransom note, superimposed over an image of Thomas the Tank Engine for some reason, demanding the victim send 10 nude photographs of him or herself. The attacker say that they will verify the photos to be those of the victim’s, but how this will be done, is not explained. Only after all this will they provide the victim with the key to access. This could very well be a prank, this ransomware seems to be not a cryptor, but rather a blocker, which means that in case of infection it doesn’t encrypt your files, but simply blocks access to your computer according to MalwareHunterTeam.
